學英文總是想要先從文法下手嗎?
其實生活周遭本身就有相當多的素材可以來當英文練習😎
有沒有那種情況是當你想說某些單字的時候卻說不出來，知道中文但永遠沒去查過英文是怎麼說的嗎？ 加上學校教科書不會教你這些生活的英文，也導致學生在上完英文課之後，除了課本上學的東西外，一切生活的英文用語都不知如何來表達。
這是為什麼我在教學領域的10年當中，常常會被提問 Speaking 口說到底該如何有效的進步👄
千萬不要盲從的死背單字，那只會讓你暫存著短暫記憶。
與其硬背單字，我倒是會建議把每個字都練習到會念來的更重要！利用每個字母的 phonics 自然發音規則，先嘗試在沒有電腦或是翻譯的情況下，自己試試看能否利用 phonics 自然發音把每個單字順利的唸出來。會念比會背來的更重要👍
今天先來分享 at school 學校周邊會遇到的英文單字與如何運用到句型上：
主要會以美國校園為主，雖然跟台灣的說法有點差異，但大多數的英文都還是通用喔！
📍Apply for School 申請學校:
A: Have you gotten your report card yet?
你收到成績單了嗎?
B: I just received it yesterday. Which school are you going to apply for?
我昨天剛收到。你要申請哪一間學校呢?
A: I would like to apply for a public school, but my scores are quite low…..
我想要申請公立學校，可是我的分數有點低
B: How about the private school?
那要不要試試看私立學校呢?
A: I wish I can, but my parents prefer me to study in a public one.
我希望我可以，但我爸媽要求我只能念公立的。
B: How sad! I think the only thing you can do is to take the second entrance exam to see if have another chance.
這太糟了! 我想你唯一可以做的是參加第二次的入學考試，看看有無其他機會了。
📍Fill out the application forms填寫申請表格
A: Hi there, I would like to get some application forms.
您好，我想要拿一些申請表格。
B: There you go. Please make sure you have a copy o your student ID card and your school transcript along with the application form.
這是你要的。要請你確認你的申請表要一併附上學生證件影本和在校成績單。
A: Is there anything else I need to provide?
還有其他需要我提供的嗎?
B: Your teachers’ recommendation letter.
你的老師推薦信。
A: May I ask when is the deadline?
我能問一下截止日期是甚麼時候嗎?
B: That will be the end of this month.
期限到這月底。
📍Statement of Purpose 讀書計畫
A: Hi, Henry. I heard you’re going for your PhD in the U.S. this September.
Hi，亨利。我聽說你九月要去美國攻讀博士。
B: Yes, that’s why I’m writing my statement of purpose now.
是的。這就是為什麼我現在正忙著準備我的讀書計畫。
A: Is that need to make it in detail?
那需要寫的很詳細嗎?
B: I’ll try to explain my statement as much detail as possible.
我會盡可能很詳細來表達我的讀書計畫。
A: Alright, I’d better let you get back to work.
好，那我讓你趕快去完成吧。
📍Admission 入學許可
A: Dad, check this out. I got admitted into Harvard University.
爸，快看。我申請到了哈佛大學了。
B: Are you seriously? That’s fantastic!
真的假的啦? 這真是太棒了。
A: Here you go. The student orientation will be on September 10th.
拿去。新生訓練將會在九月十號。
B: Wow! Then you will have a very long vacation.
哇! 那你將會有個很長的假期了。
